Topic: The server for GIT (Windows)

Kind time of days, dear colleagues! We work with GIT. There is a server - on the basis of Wondows Server-2012. Meanwhile, server repository GIT - is used as a simple file repository,  between developers. Simply declared Network-Drive Z:\and there - all  a global economy (a server repository). Quite often there is a situation that Commit in a local GIT-repository transits successfully, and here Push (in a server repository) - . A similar situation most typical for a case if operations with  a server repository long (for example - days) were not conducted. It thus that the server computer , and also provides Internet connection in same it is a high time. In other words - a problem not in a local network. There is a suspicion that application of the "normal" server for GIT solves the given problem. What server for GIT it is the most correct  for the given situation? Like - quite good and simple variant Bonobo: https://bonobogitserver.com However, probably, now are available and more advanced decisions? In advance I thank for any councils!

If your main working tool of a Visual Studio probably interesting variant to you seems Team Foundation Server 2015 (now there besides them  centralized Version Control is supported as well Git). If in your command to 5 developers you are laid down in restrictions free Express editions. Well and though initially you sounded  on development on the server, probably, nevertheless it is necessary to study a variant of layout of a repository on a hosting - removing from yourself the decision of potential problems with service and adjustment. In this case the spectrum of decisions considerably extends - from closed paid accounts GitHab and GitLab, to the same Team Foundation Services

Hello, dear Michael Romanov, you wrote: >... Team Foundation Server 2015... Now there besides them  centralized Version Control it is supported as well Git. I use Git and GitExtensions - is happy as an elephant All there is all conveniently! There is  GitExtensions with mine a Visual Studio 2013 (Community edition) - in general while on TFS to pass do not hasten I Will mark that earlier (on old operation) I worked both with TFS, and with SVN (Tortoise SVN). However, Git (and it GUI the extension - GitExtensions) -  much more convenient and practical system  the code. > If in your command to 5 developers you are laid down in restrictions free Express editions. Git and accompanying utilities - the decision free (free). If in my command - today five persons, and tomorrow - ten, I can always sleep easily (unlike a variant with TFS)! P.S. Installed Bonobo. Git. Server - while like all it is normal. Yes, this variant is calculated under IIS, but I already specified that at us Windows Server 2012 - so this moment  on Windows Server "from a box".

Hello, AlexGin, you wrote: AG> However, Git (and it GUI the extension - GitExtensions) -  much more convenient and practical system  the code. I probably not quite distinctly wrote. TFS now supports, besides the initial monitoring system of versions, also Git. I.e. you can use the favourite tools, the same GitExtension Another matter that in VS now there is a extension for operation with Git. To use it or not - look. AG> if in my command - today five persons, and tomorrow - ten, I can always sleep easily (unlike a variant with TFS)! Well, paid decisions have such singularity - it is necessary to pay for them.
