Topic: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

All greetings.
Began here learning sqlPlus. Well as learning... Some examples got.
And here that I can not understand.
For example, write the such:
....
SKIP left "Shipped:"out_name"skip2
BREAK ON out_name SKIP PAGE
-- main query
select out_name, in_name, organization from warehouse;
...
Thus, a line "Shipped: Ivanov" is printed directly ahead of a table output, i.e. skip2 does not work. Nobody complains, is simple to me not clearly.
At the same time explain before beginning, please, new page, sqlPlus adds a line. It can be cancelled somehow?

I suspect that several  above is ttitle and  skips concern it

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

env,
Yes, that's it and it is written. An error, probably?
To dock read owing to the understanding, and that's it it did not find there. But with my knowledge of English could pass simply. I and thought that the gap does not suffice. But there often such meets (in other examples), really it everywhere an error? And here in dock about gaps words.
-----------------------------------
Stax, forgive. Certainly is there, here so the full line looks.
TTITLE left "the Warehouse:" whs_name -
SKIP left "Shipped:"out_name"skip2
Lost on road (
The question 1 was about skip2
The question 2 was about a line which is added before each beginning of the table.

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

Ameli2000;
1)
On each page on top it is printed at the left
Warehouse
Next line (skip) at the left it is printed
Shipped
We pass single line (in a line) skip 2
Something it is probably deduced
2) that in the beginning pages were not blank lines to deliver
set newpage none

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

Stax, skip 2 it is possible to write without a gap (skip2)?
In the original code of a gap is not present, and as a result the line is not passed. How it interprets sqlplus?
Thanks you big for the help.

Ameli2000;
It should be passed,  on the version depends
On  a gap it is necessary

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

Stax, thanks you huge. As a whole, as I work skip understood (he-he), but here absence of a gap confused.
And I set a question foolishly that anybody understood nothing, and it was about absence of a gap.
At check without a gap just the line is not passed, and actually the question essence was - whether correctly it.
On the other hand, not clearly, where this disappears skip2 if as a result it is not deduced, and a line does not pass.

I am afraid that did not understand. Word SKIP certainly confuses, but to dock after all nobody cancelled. SKIP N delivers <new line> N time, i.e. the first <new line> finishes a current line. So SKIP N it N-1 blank line after the leaking.

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

No, at me skip2 it also looks so:

 not absolutely so
DEPTNO DNAME LOC
---------- -------------- -------------
10 ACCOUNTING NEW YORK
20 RESEARCH DALLAS
30 SALES CHICAGO
40 OPERATIONS BOSTON

For this reason there was a question. But I will try on a simple example.

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

Good afternoon.
I will a little lift a subject. Again a vagueness... (
According to the documentation, skip page in break does rupture in page (i.e. begins the new table).
Question such:

break ON adres skip on dep skip page

it is necessary to estimate as
To make page break at (1) change adres || dep or (2) only dep ?
If the first what sense has skip in

ON adres skip

?

Re: Questions on sqlPlus (theoretical)

Ameli2000;
SKI [P] n

. If I could change something there.
My task - to repeat the report in other system. And it is very heavy to understand without change possibility how the original report works.
However it does not concern a subject.
Once again to you thanks, Stax that do not throw me)

Take a small test label ( emp) and on it
If  changes it is not visible, it is possible to compare files
compare result for
1) break ON adres skip on dep
2) break ON adres skip 1 on dep
3) break ON adres on dep
So it is easier to understand that meant in dock
ps
break it is normal  with order by
