With lines it is possible to present clearly each line as a polygon and to calculate all connections and the ends, but OpenGL can draw only convex polygons, and I so understand the most "simple" variant it to do a triangulation (which too not the simple task for the arbitrary polygons), but arise questions how to make on polygon boundary. Simply it would not be desirable to invent a bicycle and to transfer rasterizer_scanline_aa from AGG on OpenGL, it is possible where that already is open decisions, but truth that while sensible did not give.
