Topic: GA for download file?

There is what that methods without creation of additional pages to hang Google Analytics directly on a downloaded file? Or it is impossible? The file is downloaded on a direct reference.

Hello, turbocode, you wrote: ov>> you add to the link  onclick, and in it it is possible on javascript to pull analytics. Examples are in an Internet. Through GA  in any way - there devil's , but it is possible to count elementarily in the basis - as here it is described, only it is better to add to the apache mod_xsendfile, instead of sending from PHP.

And if page to name file name with the extension? For example page to call as: my_file_setup.exe then in it to pull GA a script and to give from it already real file? Itself did not try but whether it is is interesting possible so to do?

Simply renaming  in exe you it then you will give as exe, i.e. on downloading instead of the exe. As a similar variant - to create page which will give yours EXE, on page GA the code. Conditionally we consider that if there was a reversal to page - that was downloading.
