Topic: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

Hello.
FB 3.*.
So it turned out that in a label separate fields - "year" and "month" are necessary. And still - "user", "type",
To create fields with such names it is not permitted.
And to  me the soul does not lie.
Question: how you normally arrive to bypass "a terrible problem"?
- Use "" ("Year");
- Add a prefix (DOC_YEAR);
- Use plural (Years instead of Year);
- Use synonyms (kind instead of type);
- Something else?
Here still a question: how you normally name domains? That at once it was clear that it is the domain.
Thanks.

YuRock;
Thanks. And on other questions?

The user 01;
On another I am not soared. I create a field which "in doubt" if formed - well, is not present - I add any suffix or a prefix as in a head climbs up. I am not soared.

YuRock;
I.e.,  you do not use.

Never in life was needs.

The user 01;
On specific names still a variant - year YR, month MN, i.e. not the full names, and abbreviations.
- , I hate it, since hands to write requests with  it is awful. And from the generator of requests to read the text with  - eyes bleed.

kdv;
Thanks.
Me for some reason such like stupid questions into a stupor enter. smile

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

The user 01;
Well, here on the one hand, like columns and tables should give intelligent names, and on the other hand, when these names reach lengths of 10-20 characters to write it or to read begins terribly inconveniently.
For example, I always in requests use  tables, even at update/delete where regular syntax  does not admit more than one table. A habit such.
And  tables I use from 1 to 3 characters. It is more - strongly worsens readership.
In general, it is the personal habits based in any practice. In Delfjah, for example, all is perfect differently. Is both the Hungarian notation, and other that in SQL somehow not so rolls.
p.s. And names   which  stick together with some from two names of tables, too cannot exceed certain length (28 characters, now like more, or I any more do not remember). Everywhere an ambush.

, he prompts. smile Though to read
All the same will be longer (but it is faster more clear).

The user 01;
I had such "cockroaches": to all fields of the table gave a prefix from abbreviation of a name of the table.
Type:

create table TRANSFER (
TRN_ID...
TRN_DATE...
TRN_COL...
)

If tables in basis very little - looks well, my cockroaches give a standing ovation.

The user 01;
Year, month, quarter - Y, M, Q
If dates different in sense, then suffixes, type DOC_YEAR
Domains - DM_*
"" never))

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

In many cases, FirebirdSQL understands from a context that the reserved keyword, namely defined by the user is used not. For example, it is possible to create domain NAME and-or domain ID and quite easy to use them in such DDL, as CREATE TABLE, CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE PROCEDURE etc.
For time stamp I use:
TIMESTAMP-> TMSTMP / "tmstmp" / "TmStmp"

rdb_dev;
Domain NAME (with such name) is delirium for the name for different entities happens too different in length.

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

Simonov Denis;
Perhaps it at it BLOB SUBTYPE TEXT

And sense? At record of three characters that in VARCHAR (3) that in VARCHAR (33), taken in a file of a DB the place will be identical.
I adjusted the size to "round" maximum field size UTF8 which can be indexed in v2.5 with my adjustments of the sizes of pages and I use this domain:

CREATE DOMAIN NAME AS
VARCHAR (200) CHARACTER SET UTF8
COLLATE UTF8;

for all name fields. That here ?

rdb_dev;
And about sorting you certainly forgot.

19

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

Simonov Denis, about sorting according to an index? ^^

20

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

rdb_dev;
Is not present without an index. Sorting according to an index not always probably to apply, and in some cases it also is worse on productivity

The artist can so sees.

22

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

Simonov Denis and how sorting according to fields UTF8 works for you in FirebirdSQL? At you lines on the full length of record are formed, and then, leaning against library icu, sorting is carried out?

23

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

rdb_dev;
Records are sorted by the unpacked. Look on a forum about the big sortings

24

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

Simonov Denis, all the same I do not understand -  VARCHAR to uncover for all length?

25

Re: How you arrive, when feel, what names of objects can coincide with "auxiliary"?

rdb_dev;
Again 25. I hardly can explain to you, but that is, that is.
Here NickDee already tried to clarify it http://www.sql.ru/forum/1110255/opyat-pro-varchar-n
